Warning to the Wrongfully Accused, Keep your Records for Life

December 7, 2016

It is understandably tempting to think that after 4 years it might be safe to dispose of documents which are closely connected to the trauma of being falsely accused.

A word of caution.

We are finding that the records you hold may, at some point, be the only records which exist. Even the most important Courts records disappear and police files get lost. This has come to light when police or church have chosen to review an old allegation which might originally have been dismissed or closed as ‘no further action’.

So however painful you find them, we suggest you do your best to continue keep them in a secure place. This may mean doing so for life.
