Malice putting teachers in fear

Posted

by

THE fear of malicious allegations being made against innocent teachers is ruining the morale of the profession, unions warned yesterday.NUT spokesman Rhys Williams said fear of false allegations was particularly high among older teachers approaching the end of their service. He said, “It’s a major concern. It’s a constant worry in the background.”Suddenly a malicious allegation comes out of the blue; even if there is nothing in it, people will say there is no smoke without fire.”It can really undermine the sense of self-esteem of people who are perhaps in their 50s and have a career they can be proud of.”Teachers will be briefed on their legal rights when facing malicious allegations at a conference in Cardiff organised by the NUT in May…
