THE Soham murders and a series of disturbing cases involving child abuse have prompted the Assembly Government to launch a wide-ranging review of its children’s services. The review, which is expected to take 12 months, will be chaired by Labour AM Gwenda Thomas and will involve talking to children and professionals. It is intended to “test the weaknesses” in the child protection system, and will take on board the results of the inquiries announced into the Soham case.
