An ageing former special constable jailed for 15 years after he was convicted of molesting young boys will argue at the Appeal Court that he was the victim of a conspiracy. Derek Hooper, 76, of Bovey Tracey, will begin an Appeal Court bid to clear his name before the end of next month. He will be represented by QC Paul Dunkels, who acted for the prosecution in the case of Trupti Patel, the woman who was recently cleared of murdering three of her babies.
