"Names Can Never Hurt Me": Does Naming Suspects Help Children?

A talk given by Kathleen Marshall Commissioner for Children and Young People in Scotland in October 2004. In it Kathleen Marshal confronts head on the issue of the rights, powers and responsibilities of children (and adults) both in the context of truthful and false allegations of child abuse.  What makes this talk so remarkable is that she is the first children's commissioner in the UK to acknowledge the existence of false allegation and the impact they have. She does so in a child centered but balanced way without in any way diluting the important message that children must be protected. Her talk can be accessed here.
